We map trillions of interactions between living organisms in the soil to identify the rare microbes with the right internal DNA software to produce nitrogen.
Through nearly a decade of research, we understand how microbes work in nature before they adapted to heavy fertilizer use. We take that knowledge and enable these naturally occurring microbes to work as nature intended again.
Pivot Bio’s microbes are produced using fermentation. They are fed sugars and allowed to grow until they’ve reached a high enough concentration to be sold for use on the farm. Fermentation replaces the chemical-based Haber-Bosch Process, which is the energy-intensive production process traditionally used to create synthetic nitrogen, and reduces potential greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 98%.
